Finally I got around to producing another podcast episode and if you’re Gen X, a job-hunter or in HR you’re going to get a lot out of this!
In this, the second episode of the Pro Human Podcast, I speak with Philippa Penfold, Responsible AI and Data Science Manager at Elsevier, a global scientific publisher and data analytics company.
Philippa shares her unique journey from a seasoned HR leader to an advocate for responsible AI usage. We discuss the cautious approach needed for AI implementation in business, especially its impact on human creativity and well-being (currently? Not great 😕.)
The conversation touches on the ethical considerations of AI in HR, the importance of designing AI systems that enhance rather than undermine human flourishing, and the evolving nature of jobs in the age of AI.
Watch here or on YouTube, listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, and don’t forget to subscribe to the Pro Human weekly blog and newsletter RIGHT HERE!
To Do List
If you missed the first episode of the Pro-Human pod do go back and give it a listen here:
Pulitzer prize nominated investigative journalist Carol Cadwalladr, who uncovered the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal, released a TED Talk this week detailing what she believes is a digital coup happening right in front of our eyes - billionaires stealing our data to use it against us. I think her emotional delivery undermines her message somewhat but the message is unignorable:
Finally, I just finished reading ‘The Mandibles’ by Lionel Shriver. Written in 2016 it documents the downfall of a wealthy American family following American isolationism and a catastrophic fall in the dollar from 2029 - 2047 so, if you’re wondering what happens next, this is one version of events!

Right, that’ll do ya - I’m off to Big O Fest in Singapore, might see you there but give the playlist a listen below 🤘😝
